Since 1887, when St. Joseph Medical Center opened as Houston's first hospital, we have been offering compassionate care to generations of Houstonians. We were Houston's first teaching hospital, first emergency care facility, and the first OB department, delivering as many as one in three Houstonians.

We are embarking on a new chapter in the hospital's remarkable history as an affiliate of Hospital Partners of America. As the only general acute care hospital in downtown Houston, we have partnered with Houston's best physicians to provide a unique mix of quality health care, greater patient satisfaction and more efficient operations.

Covering 1.2 million square feet in downtown Houston, we are expanding services and recruiting physicians to meet the growing needs of the many communities we serve - from corporate clientele to families, and from international visitors to the many who have called us their hospital of choice from the very beginning. We are very proud of the hospital's history, and even more excited about its future.


 

Shasta Regional Medical Center

Shasta Regional Medical Center (SRMC), located in downtown Redding, California, is licensed for 246-beds and has become a regional medical center serving far Northern California. The Hospital offers a diverse range of services from emergency medicine, critical care, general/specialty surgery, oncology, diagnostic cardiac, neurosciences to orthopedic care designed to meet the needs of the area.

Throughout the years, there have been several expansions and renovations to the Hospital’s physical plant. The most recent addition includes the finalization of a 4-story patient tower, complete with a Heliport, capable of sustaining a landing of a Blackhawk helicopter.

On July 15, 2004, SRMC was acquired by Hospital Partners of America, along with a large group of Physicians in the Northern California area. SRMC is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, licensed by the state of California and approved for Medicare patients.


 

Austin Surgical Hospital

Hospital Partners of America entered into a partnership in 2002 with approximately 35 of the leading physicians in the Austin, Texas area to develop and operate Austin Surgical Hospital. The Austin facility opened in September, 2003.

Renovations were completed on an existing 4-year old hospital to add additional operating rooms, procedure rooms, an ICU, and an expanded imaging department.

Austin Surgical Hospital consists of 50,000 square feet on the first floor, with 30,000 square feet of physician office space on the second floor. The hospital consists of 23 inpatient rooms, including an ICU, 6 operating rooms and 2 procedure rooms. The hospital offers a range of ancillary services including MRI, CT, inpatient rehabilitation and clinical laboratory.
